Welcome! I'm T. Aircox, and this is Let Me Read You In. Today, I'm opening the door to my K-pop love series, where fame gets complicated, desire gets dangerous, and love never arrives quietly. Q Bum found his way into the basement and was about to call out for Julio when he heard the rushed, angry voices. Angela, I am tired of this. Leave her alone. I hope she does leave. I hope she takes some time for herself and comes back a happier person. The girl is twenty two years old, Julio spoke rapidly to his wife. She is our child, and I'll be damned if I see her in another country getting treated like some you know what I want to say. Dios mío, mommy, stop Julio threw his hands up. He will be there with her. He's a good man. Why isn't that good enough for you? Because he is not Angela if I hear you say that one more time. He slapped his hands together. I'll sleep on the couch. You are hurting her, our only daughter, our only child. Christ! Who told you to invite that boy here? Qum stood around the corner on the last stair. Where was Maya? He touched his chest, feeling dread sink into his stomach. The same feeling when he entered the house. Mouth dry, feet unable to move, he listened. I just wanted to remind her what she could have, misses Camboy sighed. I will not allow her to leave. Our only child? You said it yourself. Did you see the shit on their little forum? She will endure that. He made his own statement. I know that as well. Don't walk away from me, Julio. Already am. Kubum stood on the edge of the stairs as Julio came around the corner, startled to see him. Q I was looking for you to ask you something. Kubum shoved his hands in his pockets, clearing his throat. I can come back though. Do you know where Maya is? In her room upstairs. Q Bum nodded and turned away, but not before Julio reached out and placed a hand on his shoulder. You have my permission, Q Bum. Not that you need it. I know what I know about you. Q Bum looked over his shoulder, wiping the corners of his eyes. Thank you. He rushed up the stairs to her room and found her door slightly ajar. He didn't have the ring now. He wouldn't do it here. Get out of my fucking room and out of my face, Anthony. Anger rushed into Q Bum as he made his way down the short hall. It wasn't even that long ago. Before you met old Du, you asked if we could just talk. I want to talk now. Now that's the key word. Please, if you'll excuse me. Q Bum opened the door and watched as Maya tried to jerk her wrists from Anthony's grasp. Her eyes widened when they landed on him. Cute. Twisting her arm from the man's grasp, she ran to his side. Let's leave now. I'm done socializing for today. Who is this? Q Bum held her hand and tried not to ignore her, relishing in her warmth as ice formed in his fingertips. Anthony Burgess, the other man held out his hand. Maya's ex. Now it all made sense. Cubum smirked, looked down at Maya and back to Anthony. What was he doing in here, Maya? Following me? Being annoying when I wouldn't speak to him after my mother so cleverly invited him over. She pulled on his arm and motioned to the stairs. Let's go home. Home? Anthony raised an eyebrow. Wow, she moved in with you? Wouldn't even spend the night at my place. Shut up, Maya narrowed her eyes. Q, please, now. He obeyed, trying to quell the anger just beneath the surface. Her mother had invited some ex over with the intention of Maya changing her mind. He didn't mean to hold her wrist as hard as he was. But as he dragged Maya down the stairs he couldn't hear anything but the rush of blood in his ears and the steadily creeping crimson of rage in his eyesight. Calm down, nothing happened. He saw me and tried to hug me. I saw my mother, and I just I had to get away. I ran to my room, I was there for a while, and he had just got in there when you came up. misses Campoy was in the kitchen walking toward the front door when she spotted Maya and Q Bum. Maya, you can't leave. We have guests and we haven't had dessert. Maya grabbed her coat as Q Bum put his on. Angela gasped. Maya Campoy. Leave her alone. Julio rounded the corner. You, he pointed at Anthony. Out of my house, I won't ask nicely again. Q Bum closed his eyes tight and tried to will away the hate and anger that roared at him to lash out. But as Anthony walked past him, the beast within was unleashed. Good luck with her. She was always annoyingly loyal to her mother. Q Bum grabbed Anthony and slammed him into the wall, causing a dent in the sheetrock. Q, Maya grabbed his arm, trying to force him off the man. Q, don't he wanted to. He needed to. The urge to stomp him into the ground was too much. He had to release this energy somehow. He tossed Anthony away from him, watched as the man sprawled out on the floor. Tears pricked at his eyes as a crowd began to form. Kubum, Maya's hands were on his face, rubbing the corners of his eyes. She was crying, begging with him, please, take me home, please.
